The Gambia Volunteers Trust (GVT) is a registered international development organisation, fighting to enhance the dignity and to improve the lives of people living in poverty; to enable people to help themselves by providing practical opportunities to create a better future: to work with determination and care to empower people in need.

Aims & Objectives

THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION IN THE UK AND THE GAMBIA IN PARTICULAR THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES NOT PROVIDED FOR THROUGH STATUTORY FUNDS.

TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES AND ENABLE ALL WHO WISH TO VOLUNTEER TO DO SO FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY.

TO UNDERTAKE VOLUNTARY WORK IN EDUCATION, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND SIMILAR CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES AMONGST THOSE CLASSED IN NEED THEREOF.

  1. RECRUITING INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS TO THE GAMBIA
  2. CAMPAIGN AGAINST FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM)
  3. CARING OF VOLUNTEERS
  4. PROVIDE FREE ACCOMMODATION AND AIR TRAVEL TO VOLUNTEERS.
  5. FUNDRAISE TO SUPPORT VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES.
  6. PROVIDE VOLUNTARY ASSISTANCE TO ELDERLY PEOPLE.
  7. PROVIDE CARE AND VOLUNTARY SERVICE TO PENSIONERS.
  8. TO BUILD AND RENOVATE NURSERY SCHOOLS IN THE GAMBIA.
  9. SPONSOR SCHOOL CHILDREN FROM POOR FAMILIES

In the interest of children safety & safeguarding, volunteers wanting to work with children in schools or nurseries must forward their DBS Check to us.
OFFICES:

We have offices in the United Kingdom and The Gambia with some volunteers acting as our Ambassadors in different countries. All our offices are run by dedicated volunteers who are always ready to help.
