Volunteer Management Assistant

The Gambia Volunteers is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to support in the expansion of our volunteer centres across the five administrative regions of The Gambia and to coordinate volunteer programs. The volunteer will be willing to stay for a minimum period of 3 months. The Gambia Volunteers currently has 2 Part-time volunteer staff members dedicated to the management of the volunteer program, however, with the increasing numbers of volunteers interested in participating in our programs we are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who can support the Volunteer Manager in organizing the daily tasks of volunteers.

•  Coordinating in the expansion of the volunteer centres
•  Coordinating volunteers in their diverse daily activities
•  Ensuring the well-being of the volunteers
• Supervising the organization and cleanliness of the volunteer house
• Organizing weekend activities for the volunteers
• Hosting events/dinners and providing entertainment for volunteers 
• Administrating the volunteer programs
• Reporting concerns and intermediating requests to management
•  Coordinating group activities like ‘Set Set Tall’
• Supporting in the preparation of material that provides exposure to the program such as volunteer videos, ads and updates on social media

Hours of work: Volunteers work from 9am to 4pm during week days with an hour lunch break.

Volunteers at GVT are required to pay £150.00 per month (Jan 2018 Exchange Rate = D63 to a Pound). Volunteers are expected to pay in Dalasis or pounds and therefore the exchange rate is only an approximation. This fee covers the volunteer’s accommodation, internet access and project costs. The volunteer can also find his or her own accommodation and will not require to pay the fees for accommodation.
